The FMM Center conducts an active technical assistance program. The
Center employs three full-time extension personnel specializing in the
areas of casegoods manufacturing, upholstery
manufacturing, and testing and evaluation.

Extension specialists collaborate with faculty and furniture manufacturers in the identification of research issues, the conduct of research projects, and in the dissemination of results to the furniture industry.
The FMM Center extension specialists offer a number of technical workshops. Any of the programs can be customized to meet individual business needs.
Extension personnel also provide direct assistance to Center members in implementing innovative technological or business applications through on site consultation or focused projects A focused project is a coordinated effort between the FMM Center and a company. The focused project approach utilizes cross-functional teams to identify and plan actions which address the specific needs of the furniture manufacturer.
